Taste of Africa: A Tribute to Fela Kuti

WorldBeat Center welcomes the African Coalition and Sister Cities of Tema. For many years, WorldBeat Cultural Center has worked for Ghana through San Diego’s Ghana Association and Sister City San Diego-Tema. We now have a coalition with Ethiopia, Nigeria and Tanzania. A Taste of Africa gives San Diego a positive look of San Diego’s African diaspora and supports them in this time of need after the pandemic.
This year, WorldBeat Cultural Center decided to do its annual Fela Kuti Day by celebrating Fela Kuti’s birthday with a Taste of Africa. The event will highlight local African restaurants like Abule Afro Market and Eatery, Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant, Caribbean Pleasure, Perkey’s South African Food and Catering, Spicey African food, Fatuma Cuisine, and Asmara Cafe.

Tickets include
- Pass to sample all participating food vendors. Participating vendors include local businesses like Abule Afro Market and Eatery, Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant, Caribbean Pleasure, Perkey’s South African Food and Catering, Spicey African food, Fatuma Cusine, and Asmara Cafe. (Food will also be available for sale.)
