Habari Gani (What’s the News)?
Welcome to the first day of Kwanzaa, Umoja- Unity. This is WorldBeat Center‘s 37th Annual Celebration. Come see the new Kwanzaa Exhibition in our African American History and Culture Museum and also the “Lift Every Voice Exhibit,” the global Grand Opening Celebration of the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). This year we’ll be celebrating Kwanzaa from December 26th to December 29th and we have a play and musical performance of Stevie Wonderland’s music by our youth and I love Stevie Wonderland. I am really sorry Bob Marley did not tour with him as planned. That would have been the concert of our lives. It’s nice to see our youth reach back in time and continue what Africa calls “Sankofa”, that means you cannot know where you’re going until you know where you came from. These kids grew up here as children and now they are teenagers. WorldBeat Center is so honored to have such dynamite instructors like Monica Harris from Diva Dance Works to teach as well as Mestre Dennis Newsome for Capoeira, and that goes for all the instructors at the WorldBeat Center. Big up Nana Yaw Aseidu and Makida Anderson. Have a fruitful Kwanzaa. Harambee!
Bring 2018 into a higher consciousness and commune with us at the WorldBeatCultural Center this year as we go within and transform the energies and send them out as light into our mother Earth. Right now the Earth needs a radical change in consciousness, emotional opening or physical cleaning.
In the spirit of culture, dance, yoga, qigong, chanting, and drumming join us December 31st for WorldBeat Center‘s Alternative New Years Ascension Celebration. You will not wake up with a hang over, you will wake up with a new you, as we ascend together.
Happy New You
