Join us at the 44th Annual Tribute to the Reggae Legends in San Diego, CA.
Tribute to the Reggae Legends / Bob Marley Day, is a celebrated event that pays homage to the rich legacy of reggae icons. The event was founded by Prophet World Beat Productions in honor of Bob Marley’s legacy. The first concert was at the International Blend, a local coffee shop with living legend Earl Zero and original Cali Reggae, the Rebel Rockers. Over the years, we expanded to Carpenters Hall, then downtown to the San Diego Concourse (Golden Hall), the North Park Theater and then the California Theater. Other venues included the San Diego Convention Center and the Broadway Pier. After the meeting of Moss Jacobs of Golden Voice at that time we collaborated on several shows like Reggae SunSplash and then with Bob Marley Day at the San Diego Sports Arena and that lasted for 25 years.
World Beat Productions has been instrumental in bringing together top reggae acts from around the globe and after 25 years at the San Diego Sports Arena, Makeda Dread decided to continue Tribute to the Reggae Legends at the Broadway Pier because we wanted to continue to promote Indigenous Roots Reggae artists. The festival has now been hosted at WorldBeat Cultural Center in Balboa Park for 10 years.
WorldBeat Cultural Center believes Tribute to the Reggae Legends is vital because it preserves the cultural heritage and musical history that has influenced countless genres and artists. It also provides a sense of community and unity, bringing together fans and artists to celebrate the enduring spirit and messages of reggae music. Reggae’s conscious message is even more important and relevant today.
Stay tuned for this year’s lineup.
